In April we had the chance to interview MAKAMAKA for the release of their 4th single : Go! Go! Find all their freshness and kindness in this long exchange :)
WHO IS MAKAMAKA ?
"MAKAMAKA (마카마카 ) is a five-member girl group under BLUEMOON Entertainment. They made their debut on August 4, 2020 with their first single "Burning Power". HeeSu, Dia DaSeul and EunB are the current group. Since their debut, they have released 4 singles and participated in shows such as M Countdown, The Show or Inkigayo! They also like to make dance covers with a lot of talent that they publish on their Youtube channel We meet the group for an interview on the occasion of the release of their new single Digital "너를위해(Go! Go!)"

Heesu : Hello, I'm Heesu from MAKAMAKA, and I'm the leader and main vocalist! Nice to meet you :)
Di A : Hello, I'm Di A, a reliable friend from MAKAMAKA! I'm in charge of dancing in the group.
Da Seul: Hello, I'm Da Seul, the vocalist of MAKAMAKA :)
Eun B : Hello! I'm Eun B, the youngest and cutest member of the team!
It's been two years since your debut, congratulations Bravo! How do you feel?
Heesu : It's hard to believe that two years have already passed, and I feel like time is really flying by. We've made so many memories up until now, and I really miss the MAKALONGs who were always there with us. :)
Di A : Mentally, we still feel like rookies, so it's hard to believe that two years have passed... hehe.ㅎㅎ
Da Seul : It feels like time is passing really quickly when we think about how we're already looking towards our third year after debuting two years ago.
Eun B : It feels a little strange that it's already been two years since we debuted, it doesn't feel like it's been that long.
Can you tell us more about your recent single 'For You (Go! Go!)'?
'For You' is a song that cheers on the MAKALONGs to stay strong. It's a song that conveys MAKAMAKA's wish for the MAKALONGs to always have courage and strength to succeed, and to do well in everything they do.
What is your favorite single from all of your albums?
Heesu : I still love our debut song Burning Power the most!! Something about the memories of our debut comes to mind, and the moment I first heard that song is still so vivid. I think it's such a great song, hehe. ㅎㅎ
Di A : I like our debut album's Burning Power the most! I still listen to it when the weather is good or when I need a pick-me-up. It's also great to listen to while practicing, and sometimes when I put on my earphones and listen to it, it feels so good!! It reminds me of when we debuted, and I even shed a tear at times.
Da Seul : I think our debut song Burning Power is the one I have the most affection for. Usually, when we're preparing an album, we listen to it so much that we eventually stop listening to it, but Burning Power is so good that I still look for it and listen to it from time to time.
Eun B : I love our debut song Burning Power the most! I love summer, and it's a perfect summer song, haha. ㅎㅎ
Do you plan to perform on an upcoming festivals or concerts in Korea or around the world?
Well, we're excited to announce that we're also planning to hold a performance in Europe. We can't wait to see all of you on stage! We're currently putting in a lot of preparation and can't wait to meet our European fans. We hope to see you all there and share our love for music together!
Last year, we sang our songs on various music shows to promote IAM. It was really cool to see ourselves on stage. Do you like performing on stage?
Heesu : For me, one of the reasons why I dreamed of becoming a singer was because I loved the feeling of being on stage, showing off and being able to make people happy. That's why every single stage is precious to me, and I still get so excited and happy when I'm on stage! Haha ㅎㅎ
Di A : I love it so much that words cannot express it. Performing is the most exciting and thrilling thing in my life.
Da Seul : Yes, I always feel it, but performing on stage is the most enjoyable and happiest moment for me where I can just let go and have fun without any worries.
Eun B : When our fans cheer us on and look happy to see us, it makes me even happier when I'm on stage
If there is someone they want to collaborate with in Korea or overseas, who would it be?
We listen to a lot of Charlie Puth's songs, and we think his musical style goes well with MAKAMAKA's. We like it because many parts of his good lyrics and high energy are similar.
Do you like dancing, making covers, and choreographing on stage? What was the most difficult dance, and how long did it take to learn it?
Heesu : I think it was definitely our debut song Burning Power! The choreography changed several times to create a great stage, and each time it changed, it caused confusion in my head, so I had a hard time with it. ㅎㅎ Also, the choreography required a lot of stamina, so when we danced it three times in a row, it was difficult to catch my breath. ㅎㅎ
Di A : There wasn't a difficult dance, but Burning Power required a lot of effort to dance it beautifully! It's a song that requires a lot of attention to controlling the strength, so it took the longest to learn.
Da Seul : I think the choreography for I AM was the most difficult this time. There were a lot of movements that required arm strength, and because the choreography was fast, I had a hard time learning it at first.
Eun B : Well, there was a dance that was more physically challenging than the most difficult one, and that was our debut song Burning Power. We had to keep jumping and moving a lot, so it took us about 3-4 months to get it right.
Who are your role model groups?
Heesu : My role model is TWICE sunbaenim (senior group)! I want to be just like them, with their strong teamwork and powerful energy, even after many years in the industry :)
Di A : My current role model is Sakura sunbaenim (Le sserafim)! I was so impressed and respected her for her relentless challenge to everything and never being satisfied with what she achieved!
Da Seul : I grew up dreaming by watching Girls' Generation sunbaenims. When I saw their comeback stage, it was really touching. They looked so happy on stage, and I hope that our group, MAKAMAKA, will have many opportunities and experiences to perform on happy and enjoyable stages like Girls' Generation sunbaenims did. It was such an ideal appearance.
Eun B : My role model is also TWICE sunbaenim. I want to be just like them in all aspects, including their bright energy and teamwork.
Any dramas or webtoons you would like to recommend to your fans?
Heesu : I recently watched "The Penthouse" and it was really fun to watch haha. ㅎㅎ
Di A : I'm currently watching "Gilmore Girls"! Highly recommend it!!
Da Seul : I recently watched a drama called "Dear My Friends" and it was really, really fun to watch. I highly recommend it.
Eun B : I found "Stranger Lawyer" really funny and entertaining, so I hope those who haven't seen it yet will check it out.
Which country or city would you like to visit?
Heesu : I really want to go to Paris ㅠㅠㅠ it's my dream city ㅎㅎ
Di A : Anywhere where our fans are would be great, but if I had to choose one place, I would love to go to Guam and swim all day long~~!
Da Seul : I've been watching a lot of travel videos about Switzerland on YouTube, and I really want to go there someday ㅎ.
Eun B : I want to visit Germany! I want to try some refreshing beer, sausages, and also have some Schweinshaxe!
What do you usually do in your free time?
Heesu : I think I spend a lot of time watching Netflix while eating delicious food. ㅎㅎ Also, I enjoy window shopping at clothing stores. :)
Di A : I love riding my bike or taking my dog for a walk. ㅎㅎ And my favorite thing to do is cleaning! It's so satisfying and helps me clear my mind.
Da Seul : On weekends, I like to go hiking and cook a lot. I love the feeling of accomplishment that comes with both of these activities.
Eun B : Lately, I've been really into bowling and try to go whenever I have some free time. ㅎㅎ
What is your current favorite song?
Heesu : Well …If I had to pick one, it would be "Young, Dumb, Stupid" by NMIXX!!
Di A : "Raise Up the Flag" by Kwon Jin-ah sunbaenim !!
Da Seul : Recently, I've been listening to "CUPID" by FIFTY FIFTY all day, every day for a week. It's so good! I recommend it as a great song to listen to in the spring!
Eun B : "Bye Bye My Blue" by Baek Yerin sunbaenim.
Do you enjoy playing video games?
Heesu : I'm not really into games, I watch a lot of dramas and movies instead!
Di A : Noooo, I'm not good at games. ㅠㅠㅠ
Da Seul : No, I don't play phone games or computer games much. In fact, I've never even tried installing an app.
Eun B : Recently, I've been playing Nintendo's Animal Crossing and Kirby's Star on my game console. ㅎㅎ
Who learns choreography the fastest/slowest among the members?
Heesu : I don't think we have anyone who learns slowly! I think Eunbi is the fastest to memorize :)
Di A : Everyone is incredibly fast at memorizing. Our members are the best.
Da Seul : I am the slowest at memorizing, and Eunbi is the fastest. Haha. ㅋㅋ
Eun B : Well.. I think we are all similar. There is no one who learns slowly!
Who talks the most among the members?
Heesu : It's Eunbi... haha,ㅎㅎ her energy level is always high haha.ㅎㅎ
Di A: I think it might be me... haha, whenever we start group practice, I feel like I talk the most, haha.ㅎㅎㅎㅎ
Da Seul : I think Dia unnie talks the most, whether it's in our group chat or in daily life. Generally, except for Heesoo unnie, everyone talks a lot.
Eun B : Um, I think it's me ^^
Who eats the most among the members?
Heesu : It's Heesoo... hahaㅎㅎ. The nickname "eating machine" is not just for show :)
Di A : We all eat a similar amount haha.ㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ
Da Seul : I think Heesoo unnie eats the most deliciously.
Eun B : Heesu unnie... she eats better than we thought...
The K-Pop concert team has arrived in Seoul. Which place (restaurant, tourist attraction, shop) would you like to recommend?
Heesu : Hmm.. The Bukak Skyway has a really nice night view, so you should definitely go there!!
Di A : It's really hard to choose... Order the Yeopgi Tteokbokki and Honey Combo at the hotel!!
Da Seul : I recommend the Han river, any part of it is great. Order chicken and eat it by the Han River! It would be so nice. I did it for the last time in high school and I recommend it.
Eun B : There's a gopchang hot pot restaurant called Eunha Gopchang in Cheongnyangni and it's really delicious. It's also my favorite food... heheㅎㅎ
Do you have any final words for the fans and MAKALONGs?
Heesu : Thank you so much for liking and loving us until now :) Please continue to love us a lot as we will come back with better appearances in the future 💗
